    What Are Operator Tools?

Operator Tools is a library of small, self-contained calculators and reference utilities built directly into JobLine.ai. They are designed for quick, on-the-spot computations that machinists, CNC operators, engineers, and supervisors need every day — no external apps, websites, or spreadsheets required. All calculations run entirely in your browser; no data is sent to the server or stored anywhere.

    Accessing the Tools Hub

Navigate to /tools from the main navigation or sidebar. The hub displays all available tools as a searchable, filterable card grid plus a dedicated Machinist's Reference Library entry point. Use the category tabs (Machining, Measurement, Conversion, Reference) to narrow the list, or type keywords into the search bar to find a specific tool. Click any calculator card to open it in a slide-out panel, or open the handbook to browse longer-form reference content.

    Machinist's Reference Library

The handbook is JobLine.ai's digital machinery-reference layer. It centralizes live reference material for feeds and speeds, threads, fits and tolerances, GD&T, formulas, inspection practices, tooling, and safety standards. This is where JobLine will keep expanding worldwide manufacturing knowledge in original, source-cited form rather than scattered across separate PDFs or notes.

    Used Across JobLine

The handbook is not a standalone page only. The same reference layer is used throughout the application to support operator decisions in context. OAP lesson sections can render handbook citations for the topic being checked off, and G-Code Academy question review can surface the matching handbook references after a learner answers. The handbook search in the main header also lets operators jump straight to reference material from anywhere in the app.

    Free vs. Shop Plan

Every calculator, result, chart and reference is free for everyone, signed in or not, including typing your machine limits. A shop plan adds shop data inside the calculators: pick a station's machine profile or a machine spec bought on JobLine, pick a tool from your saved Tool Library, and save results back to that tool. Free users see those pickers locked; the calculation itself is never blocked.

    Tool Design Philosophy

Every tool follows the same principles: instant results as you type (no 'Calculate' button needed), mobile-friendly layouts that work on shop floor tablets and phones, and formulas displayed in plain text so you can verify the math. Tools use standard manufacturing conventions for units and precision.

    Requesting New Tools

If there is a calculator or reference chart you need that is not yet available, use the in-app issue reporter or contact your Org Admin. We prioritize tools based on user demand and manufacturing relevance. Upcoming tools include Tap Drill Chart, Thread Pitch Calculator, Bolt Circle Calculator, Coolant Ratio Calculator, and more.
