    Built-In Work Center Types

JobLine.ai includes a set of standard work center types commonly found in manufacturing: Mill, Lathe, Grinder, Saw, EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining), Assembly, Inspection, Shipping, Deburr, and Welding. Each station is assigned one of these types, which determines how work orders are routed to it and how it appears in filtered views.

    Filtering on the Dashboard

On the supervisor dashboard, use the work center filter to show only stations of a specific type. For example, selecting "Mill" hides all non-milling stations, giving you a focused view of your milling capacity, utilization, and queue depth. This is useful during morning production meetings when discussing specific departments or work areas.

    Filtering the Queue

On the Queue page, the work center filter narrows the work order list to show only orders currently at (or routed to) stations of the selected type. Combined with status and priority filters, this lets you answer questions like "How many rush jobs are waiting at our lathes?" or "What is the oldest in-progress order in grinding?"

    Adding Custom Work Center Types

If the built-in types do not cover your operations, Admins can add custom types in Settings → Work Centers. Common additions include: Laser, Waterjet, Paint, Heat Treat, Plating, CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine), and Manual Assembly. Custom types work identically to built-in types for routing and filtering purposes.

    Work Center Icons

Each work center type has an associated icon that appears on station cards, queue items, and routing step indicators. This visual cue helps users quickly identify the type of operation at a glance, especially on the Kanban board and station grid where many items are visible simultaneously.
