Navigating the Dashboard
A guided tour of the main dashboard layout, navigation elements, and how content adapts to your role.
The Header Bar
The header bar is always visible at the top of the screen. On the left side you will find the JobLine.ai logo (clicking it returns you to the dashboard from any page). On the right side you will see the team selector dropdown, a notifications indicator, and your user menu (avatar or initials). On mobile devices, a hamburger menu icon replaces some of these elements to save screen space.
Team Selector
If you belong to more than one team — for example, you occasionally cover shifts in a different department — the team selector lets you switch context. When you select a different team, all dashboard content (stations, work orders, handoffs, and analytics) updates to reflect that team's data. Your most recent selection is remembered between sessions, so you will not need to re-select every time you sign in.
Role-Based Content
What you see on the dashboard depends on your role. Operators see a focused view centered on their checked-in station: the active work order, parts progress, and recent handoff notes. Supervisors see a broader overview with all stations in their team displayed as cards, plus shift-level statistics. Org Admins see cross-team summaries and can drill into any team's data. This role-based filtering ensures you only see information relevant to your responsibilities.
Quick Action Buttons
Frequently used actions are accessible directly from the dashboard without navigating to other pages. These include creating a new handoff, filing a quality report, checking into a station, and viewing the work order queue. The exact buttons shown depend on your role — for example, operators see "Create Handoff" and "File NCR," while supervisors also see "View All Stations" and "Shift Analytics."
Navigation Menu
The main navigation provides links to: Dashboard (home), Queue (work orders), Teams, Settings, and Profile. Admins also see an "Admin" link. On desktop, these appear as a horizontal nav or sidebar. On mobile, they are grouped in the hamburger menu. The current page is highlighted so you always know where you are in the application.
Notifications
The notification indicator (bell icon) in the header shows a count of unread items. Notifications include: new handoffs at your station, work orders assigned to you, NCRs requiring review, and organization announcements. Click the bell to open a dropdown showing recent notifications with timestamps. Click any notification to navigate directly to the relevant record.
User Menu
Click your avatar or initials in the top-right corner to open the user menu. From here you can access your Profile page (to update display name, password, or avatar), Settings, sign out, or view the current app version. If your admin has enabled the "Act As" feature for support purposes, that option appears here as well.
