    Material Removal Rate

    MRR estimates how much material is being removed per minute. It is useful for cycle-time planning and horsepower estimation.

    Formula

    MRR = WOC × DOC × IPM

    Where:

    • WOC = width of cut
    • DOC = depth of cut
    • IPM = feedrate

    Why it matters

    Higher MRR can improve throughput, but only if spindle power, rigidity, and tool life stay in range.
